Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology "Tek Connect" Retreat 2000-2001 The
ECSU School of Education has been awarded the NC Catalyst Grant, which is an
initiative of The Division of University School Programs for The University of
North Carolina . As part of the NC
Catalyst Proposal, ECSU was one of the first UNC universities to implement
this grant with (NCCAT) The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of
Teaching. Both groups worked together
to offer an integrated technology retreat that would revitalize and inspire
cooperative teachers and university faculty and ultimately enhance student
learning. In accordance with our
partnership with USTEP (University-School Teacher Education Partnership) and
other school systems, the team included 18 cooperative
teachers/instructional specialist from Gates County, Chowan County, Pasquotank
County and Perquimans County, 3 Chowan College faculty members, 1 College of the
Albemarle faculty member and 10 ECSU faculty members.
This team traveled by Trailways bus on March 16, 2001 to Cullowhee, NC
(Western North Carolina University) to
spend It was a wonderful time of reflection, collaboration and “team building” among our ECSU faculty, Chowan College faculty, College of the Albemarle faculty and our LEA cooperative teachers, as we retreated to the mountains of North Carolina.
