1. Present Undergraduate GPA of 2.50 or better.
2. Have 25 hours of Early Field Experience in an approved public school.
Online registration is available during GE 220. Do not report to any
school until notified by the course instructor.
3. Take and pass PRAXIS-I -- PPST/CBT.
Licensure-only students do not have to take PPST/CBT to be admitted.
The test may be required by school districts for lateral entry employees.
4. Submit a completed TEP Application packet (forms/documents) to the
Office of Teacher Education for admittance to the program (Ms. Billups,
Room I58 Griffin Hall):
A. Application for Admission into the TEP
B. Candidate For Professional Licensure (CPL) Profile
C. Departmental Recommendation for Admission to TEP
D. Character & Personality Rating Scale (three)
E. Copy of PRAXIS 1: PPST/CBT Score Report
F. Copy of transcript(s)
After notification of your admittance into the Teacher Education Program, please
contact Mrs. Claudia Twiford, Room 173 Griffin Hall or at 335-3136 concerning
your Livetext Electronic Portfolio Requirements.
MINIMUM SCORES
Undergraduate degree-seeking students must satisfactorily complete the Praxis I
(Pre-Professional Skills Test [PPST] or Computer Based Test [CBT] for formal
admission into an approved teacher education program in North Carolina's
Institutes of Higher Education.
Current minimum scores are listed below:

Note Policy
Change:
Individuals with a total SAT score of 1100 are exempt from
Praxis I testing requirements for teacher education program admission.
Individuals with a total SAT score of less than 1100, but a
score of at least 550 on the Verbal test are exempt from the Pre-professional
Skills Test in Reading and Writing for teacher education program admission.
Individuals with a total SAT Score of less than 1100, but a
score of at least 550 on the Math test are exempt from the Pre-professional
Skills Test in Mathematics for teacher education program admission.
Individuals with a composite ACT score of 24 are exempt from
Praxis I testing requirements for teacher education program admission.
Individuals with a composite ACT score of less than 24, but a
score of at least 24 on the Math test are exempt from the Pre-professional Skills
Test in Mathematics for teacher education program admission.
Note Policy Change:
There is No Longer a 5-week Internship for
Teacher Assistants. All Student Teachers Must Complete 14 weeks of
Student Teaching.
